Windows 11 24H2 update – Coming Fall of 2024

24H2 update

With the continuation of Windows 11 feature upgrades the 24H2 update is on the horizon.

There has been speculation of some of the changes, one most concerning to power users and IT professionals is the legacy Control Panel.

Microsoft has claimed they will be deprecating it and migrating to the Settings app but to date only a few old control panel applets have been removed and many remain and will likely still be around for a while. Outside of this one of the more notable changes is more enforcement on systems that will be able to run Windows 11.

There are ways to bypass the CPU and TPM chip verification requirements to run Windows 11 but now they will be updating the Windows kernel to require the processor to support instruction sets that older CPUs don’t support at all, thus making booting the operating system impossible. While not a concern for many as long as you have a computer with 8th gen Intel processor or newer or AMD Ryzen 2000-series or newer you will be fine.
