Intel has developed a new processor for laptops; their M series processor is thinner and more powerful.
The 14nm processor is much thinner than the current 22nm processors in current laptops. This thinner profile allows for thinner, fan less laptops that produce much less heat while still able to produce the power that we are so used to today. The processor comes in 3 different variations much like the i-series processors. The M series processors are all dual core processors that are hyper threaded to 4 threads. The m3 processor will be the “economy” option boasting a speed of 2.2GHz.
The m5 processor will be the “middle of the road” option boasting a speed range of 2.7-2.8GHz. Finally the m7 processor will be the “Top of the Line” option with a speed of 3.1GHz; this rivals some of the current desktop dual core processors. All processors will support DDR3-1600 memory, and have integrated Intel HD 515 Graphics chips. Additionally all the processors will require minimal power, meaning that your battery will last much longer while providing optimal performance. Be on the lookout for the new Laptops and Tablets featuring the m-series processors in the very near future.
