Making sure you have the right power supply in your desktop is very important to the performance and lifespan of your system.
Running your system with a power supply that has too low of an output can cause system crashes, slow performance and even damage to internal parts of the system. Most manufactured systems come with the optimal power supply but, if you add additional parts such as multiple hard drives and high powered video cards, you may need to increase the size and output of your power supply to compensate for the additional power requirements.
When upgrading your power supply, try to find one with multiple fans. This helps keep the internal parts of the power supply cool. Also, make sure to find a power supply that has all of the connectors you need for all of the components in your system.
